Prescott 24 June 2012

June 24, 2012

As I said yesterday, I was fairly pleased with a 52.36 second time on my first day at Prescott in the Van Diemen and I was hoping to improve today. However, the first run this morning was wet and I only managed a 59.69 which wasn’t far behind Andrew Henson’s 59.09 and quite a bit ahead of Mike Broome’s 65.47.  However, after lunch the sun came out and the track dried and Andrew romped away with the class win with a 48.83 and Mike pushed me into third place with a 51.26 compared to my 51.66. Four tenths. If ony I had carried more speed through Orchard, braked later for Ettore’s and Pardon, not braked just before Semi-Circle… If only, if only.

Yesterday, Les Buck adjusted the linkage at my gear lever to try to cure my gear change problems. Now, I cannot engage reverse but it seems a lot sweeter selecting forward gears and I didn’t have any problems today.  I didn’t need fourth at Prescott but am hopeful this is a long term solution.  Who needs a reverse!

Here are some photos from today.

Yet another wet event – luckily only in the morning.

When the rain came some people changed tyres, but in Formula Ford you just have one tyre. Handy for lazy people like me.

Prescott is owned by the Bugatti Owners’ Club so there were quite a few old Bugattis present.

Jim and David Spencer. If the HSA has a Christmas caption competition, this should be the photo.

Another family photo. This time Andrew Dearden and daughter Nicola in their Formula Ford. Andrew got the class win and Nicola achieved a personal best.

I do like classic cars.

Peter Hubbard going under the bridge in his classic Marcos.

In the HSA B licence Road Cars class Eric Morrey was first in class.

Other HSA members also did well. Here’s Simon Andrews collecting his award and Geoff Stallard and Les Buck also picked up awards. Maybe others too – I’m not really a proper reporter, as you well know.
